The following policies apply to the on-campus program:
Education Week is designed for adults and teenage students. Youth must be 14 years of age by December 31 of the year they attend. When youth register, they are expected to attend Education Week classes and conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Youth registration must be completed by the parent. By registering one’s child, the parent acknowledges that the parent remains responsible for the supervision and safety of the child. The BYU campus is not designed to serve as a place for children to entertain themselves while parents attend classes.
Children under the age of 14 as of December 31 of the program year, including babies, are not permitted in the classrooms or in Education Week campus housing facilities. Please make other arrangements for them if you plan to attend.
BYU is a private university sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, whose general membership has committed to not using alcohol, tobacco, coffee or tea. Accordingly, no smoking or drinking of alcohol, coffee, or tea is permitted on the BYU campus, though other caffeinated beverages are allowed. Those who desire to smoke must do so off campus. We appreciate your understanding.
We realize that many individuals who participate in and attend our programs have not made the commitment to abstain from alcohol, tobacco, coffee, or tea. Many local businesses offer these items.
BYU students also commit to the CES Honor Code that requires them to wear clothing that is neat, clean, and modest in fabric, fit, style, and length. While on campus, those attending or participating in conferences also are asked to wear modest clothing. Skirts, dresses, and shorts should be knee length or longer. Clothing which is sleeveless, strapless, or revealing is not acceptable. The facial hair restrictions required of BYU students do not apply to conference attendees.
We also ask that our program attendees keep their language free of obscenities and other vulgarity while on the BYU campus.
For further details, please see the CES Honor Code.
Thank you for helping us to maintain the standards that make BYU unique. We hope you enjoy your time on campus.
